Where does Mati’s supplier data come from?
US ocean import records — the bills of lading filed with US Customs and Border Protection for sea freight entering the United States. Each record names the shipper, the consignee, the product description, the ports and the carrier. Air, road and rail freight are not included.
How many suppliers are in the database?
66,458 manufacturers and exporters across 169 countries, with 276,800 US ocean import shipments between them, as of the Sep 10, 2026 data update.
How often is the data updated?
Counts and lists are regenerated when a new export of customs records is loaded; the date of the current data is shown on each page (currently Sep 10, 2026). Profiles change only when new shipments for that company are observed.
What does it mean that a supplier is ‘verified’ or ‘active’?
A supplier is listed because its name appears as the shipper on at least one US ocean import record. ‘Active’ means the latest shipment date shown on its profile; the analysed window and the data update date are stated on every page. Activity is evidence that goods moved — it is not a certification, a quality check, or a statement of capacity.
Does shipment activity prove product quality?
No. Shipment counts, buyers and recency show trade activity only. They do not verify product quality, certifications, production capacity, minimum order quantities, pricing, lead times, or whether a company will take on a new buyer. Use the evidence to shortlist, then verify directly.
Can I see a supplier’s contact details?
Address, phone and website are shown one company at a time to signed-in users, so the details cannot be harvested in bulk. Everything else on a profile is open.
What is the difference between overseas suppliers and US distributors?
Suppliers are the shippers on the records — the factories and exporters abroad. US distributors and suppliers are the consignees: 32,309 US-based companies that already import the goods and sell them on domestically, so you can buy without importing yourself.
