Choppable Roving for Unsaturated Polyester, Polyurethane & Vinylester

3B Choppable Roving CR 2040 is made of E-CR glass. It consists of low tex strands, assembled together and wound onto a bobbin shape without mechanical twist, free from statics. Choppable Roving CR 2040 is silane sized and is compatible with resin systems such as unsaturated polyesters, polyurethanes and vinylesters. Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC) for the production of parts such as front grill for automotive, hood for farm tractors, or panels for electrical boxes. CR 2040 is also well-suited for the production of automotive headliners. 3B Choppable Roving CR 2040 conforms to BS 14020 and IS 11320.

PACKAGING Bobbins are individually tack wrapped for protection, improved handling and to allow optimum transfer from bobbin to bobbin. Nominal weight of bobbins is around 17kg. A pallet of size 92cm x 110cm contains 48 bobbins and 110cm x 110cm contains 64 bobbins and stretch wrapped with plastic film for protection. Two pallet configurations are available: • Bulk-pack: standard packaging, consists of individual bobbins • Creel-pack: bobbins are connected together for continuous unwinding and no bobbin handling by operators Each bobbin and pallet are identified by a label.

STORAGE Material must be stored in its original packaging without direct exposure to sun and/or water. If these conditions are maintained, the glass fibre product should not undergo significant changes when stored for extended periods of time. It is also strongly recommended to condition it in the workshop in packed condition for at least 24 hours before use to prevent condensation. For an optimal processing it is recommended to use the product in ambient conditions (20°C-30°C and a relative humidity of 60%-65%).

Choppable roving Choppable Roving 3B’s Choppable Rovings consist of multiple continuous strands of smaller tex made from 3B E-CR glass wound onto a bobbin shape without mechanical twist in an off-line process. They are free from static electricity generation. Choppable Rovings are silane sized. 3B E-CR glass is a boron-free E-CR glass that shows significantly improved corrosion resistance properties over standard E-glass. 3B E-CR glass complies with ASTM D578 and ISO 2078 standards. Our Choppable Rovings are compatible with Thermoset resins and are used for multiple applications such as Sheet Moulding Compound (SMC), head liners for automotive, fabrics for general purpose, pipe rehabilitation, etc.
