Extrusion is the process of shaping aluminium by forcing it to flow through a specifically shaped opening in a die. The extruded aluminium comes out as an elongated piece with the same profile as the die opening. We produce more than 620,000 metric tonnes per annum of high-quality extrusion ingots (Billets). Our extrusion ingot is supplied in cut-to-length billet form ranging from 400mm long to a length of up to 8,500mm, and are widely used in the construction industry for windows and door frames, transportation, engineering, and consumer durables. The quality parameters for extruded products such as surface quality, mechanical properties and the inherent metallurgical features are guaranteed in the production process. From Alba's Product Brochure, "Billets": Our billets are capable of being extruded into a range of profiles, from soft to high strength applications and a good surface finish for value-added finishing applications such as anodising and powder coating. Soft alloy applications include architectural applications, as well as building and kitchen sections. Hard alloys are used in a variety of engineering and transport applications. Additionally, included in our portfolio are billets, suitable for precision tubing applications, as well as billets that are suitable for automotive wheel forging applications. Our billets are packaged and bundled using polyester strapping and heat-treated wood.
