Given vanillin's inherent antimicrobial and antioxidant properties, EuroVanillin® Supreme can reduce and even replace synthetic oil-based preservatives used in cosmetics and personal care products.

EuroVanillin Supreme is a bio-based product made from wood (Norway Spruce) – a natural and sustainable raw material. It is defined as a Derived Natural Ingredient for cosmetics and personal care according to the International Standard ISO 16128-1.

The CO₂ emissions from production of EuroVanillin Supreme are 90 per cent lower than from production of guaiacol-based vanillin. The climate impact of EuroVanillin Supreme is thus much smaller, irrespective of where the guaiacol-based vanillin is produced.

Given its inherent antimicrobial and antioxidant properties EuroVanillin Supreme can replace oil-based preservatives in cosmetics and personal care products.

The terminology for defining ingredients made from natural and sustainable raw materials is still developing. EuroVanillin Supreme is bio-based but can also be classified as plant-based, renewable carbon and green.
