When extracted as a raw liquid from natural underground wells, Carbon Dioxide (CO₂) often contains various impurities, including sulfur compounds such as Hydrogen Sulfide (H₂S) and mercaptans, as well as Nitrogen Oxides (N₂O) and Hydrocarbons.

To purify raw carbon dioxide, a multi-stage process is employed using Scrubbers and adsorption columns to remove major contaminants, followed by distillation techniques to further refine the gas and finally activated carbon or molecular sieves to eliminate any remaining trace impurities, ensuring high-purity carbon dioxide.
