SASOBIT and SASOBIT LC are the brand names for highly crystalline synthetic hard waxes, manufactured by Sasol in Sasolburg, South Africa. It is used to enable the production of dense, deformation-resistant asphalt as well as weather- and impact-resistant bitumen felts and shingles. During production of SASOBIT LC carbon emissions are significantly reduced. Hence SASOBIT LC improves the sustainability of- and leads to benefits in the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD’s) of asphalt mixes.
