Developed primarily for the needs of the iron ore industry, Transmin designs and manufactures some of the largest bin isolation gates in operation with opening apertures of 3.0m wide by 12.0m long and materials up to 350mm lump size. Dependent upon the size of the aperture to be isolated, Transmin’s design features either a single-gate plate or double-gate plates, closing from each end and overlapping in the centre. Most designs feature hydraulic operation using Transmin in-house designed cylinders and hydraulic power units. In addition, electric and pneumatic actuation has been supplied on the more lightly loaded duties. Transmin’s standard design is to allow one HPU to operate multiple gates ensuring all of the gates cylinders volume is accounted for. Can the gates be operated remotely from the site control room? Transmin can supply gates that can be operated remotely from the site control room however Transmin would recommend for safety that these are operated manually by the local operating panel that is within site of the gate. Are the gate systems fully tested? Transmin completes a full functional test of the gates at our manufacturing workshop, Perth Western Australia.
