About this product
Our original Cavex® CVX hydrocyclone is recognised for its innovative laminar spiral inlet geometry design. Compared to other separation equipment, this hydrocyclone has a smaller footprint, high capacity and low capital cost. Overview Our original Cavex® classifying cyclone set new industry benchmarks when introduced in 1996, over 20 years ago. Its laminar spiral inlet geometry design, containing corner-less full-circle 3D curvature, is renowned for reducing turbulence inside the hydrocyclone, whilst increasing capacity, efficiency and wear life. Compared to other separating equipment, the Cavex® CVX hydrocyclone has: • A smaller footprint • High capacity • Low capital and operational cost, and • Flexible operating capability This allows it to provide exceptional performance in a wide range of applications. Our Cavex® hydrocyclone consists of a metal cast housing that can be lined with a variety of wear-resistant materials including rubber, ceramic and polyurethane. This makes it suitable for a wide range of applications in even the toughest conditions. In 2020, our second-generation hydrocyclone, Cavex® 2, was launched with further improved efficiency, capacity and volume. Our Cavex® hydrocyclones have an improved feed chamber design, with laminar spiral inlet geometry that provides excellent separation efficiency and capacity. There is also a wide range of customisable configurations available to choose from, including different cone angles, engineering materials, and inlet, vortex and spigot sizes. We also have a team of cyclone experts on hand to help you, whether it be to review the performance of your hydrocyclone or provide expert technical advice on how to improve its efficiency and wear life. Our Cavex® hydrocyclones can be enabled with the Synertrex® Intelligence Platform. This technology helps to effectively monitor and address roping events from inside the main control room. How do I know which Cavex® hydrocyclone is best suited for my application? In most situations, there isn't just one hydrocyclone suited to a specific application. Instead, there are often two or three different options available (i.e. differently-sized cyclones) that can be used for the same application. Global cyclone manufacturers produce a wide range of cyclone sizes with multiple cyclone fittings, therefore there is a degree of flexibility around which hydrocyclone to choose. Most hydrocyclones are capable of meeting different performance objectives while handling a wide range of capacity and operating pressures. Features and benefits Improved Efficiency The original Cavex® hydrocyclone contains our acclaimed laminar spiral inlet design. This results in sharper separation efficiency, greater capacity, reduced turbulence and longer wear life compared to other separation equipment. The spray guard within the hydrocyclone angles the slurry downwards to reduce wear. Low Maintenance Requirements This classifying cyclone has no moving parts, therefore no special tools are required for maintenance. It is also cost-effective to install and run, requiring little by way of maintenance or supporting structures. Quick-release clamps are also available on some hydrocyclone sizes, providing easy access to and quick changeout of the spigot liner. Customisable for a Wide Variety of Applications This hydrocyclone is available in a vast range of sizes to suit varying applications from our smallest hydrocyclone (the 40CVX) to our largest (the 1200CVX). To ensure that each hydrocyclone meets your needs, a wide range of vortex finders and spigot sizes are available. You can also choose between multiple cone angles and feed chamber sizes to maximise efficiency. We also provide a range of tough housings (e.g., corrosion resistant, polyester or carbon steel) and wear-resistant linings to promote maximum longevity. High Capacity Per Unit of Volume The Cavex® hydrocyclone has a minimum footprint and a per-unit capacity that is higher than that of other separation equipment (e.g., screens). Improved Wear Life and Safety This classifying cyclone contains moulded rubber liners up to 50mm thick which help to enhance durability and wear life. They also snap into place rather than being secured by glue or adhesives. This eliminates the need to burn the rubber or adhesive and the risk of inhaling the fumes when removing old liners, improving the overall safety of employees. Another benefit of snap-in liners is that installation is quicker due to not needing to apply glue; it is also less messy. Applications Our Cavex® CVX hydrocyclones are designed for heavy-duty mining and industrial applications (hard rock, coal, diamond and multiple mineral processing operations) - particularly in situations where high wear demands regular checking and replacement of internal wear liners. They are commonly used as a desanding cyclone for classifying solids (grinding and regrind) and slurry thickening (desliming, dewatering and solids washing). • Aggregate • Aluminium • Asphalt • Bauxite / Alumina • Biomass • Chemicals • Chrome • Coal • Concrete • Copper • Frac Sand • Glass • Gold • Graphite • Gravel • Iron • Kimberlite • Lead • Limestone • Lithium • Mineral Concentrate • Mineral Sands • Molybdenum • Nickel • Oil • Oil Sands • Palladium • Phosphate • Platinum • Potash • Power • Rare Earths • Salt • Silica Sand • Silver • Slag • Soda Ash • Sugar • Super Fines • Wastewater • Water with heavy solids • Water with light solids • Water with medium solids • Zinc Processes • Dredging • Fines Recovery • Fines Removal / Desliming • Heavy / Dense Medium Separation • Mill Circuit Dewatering • Primary Separation • Processing Fines • Producing Dry / Stackable Tailings • Secondary Separation • Tailings Recovery • Tertiary Separation • Thickening (Paste) • Tunneling • Water Recovery • Wet Classification Product specifications We can provide customised hydrocyclone solutions and provide simulations, drawings and mass balances depending on your application and requirements.
