About this product
Our heavy-duty Cavex® CVXT ceramic-tiled cyclone is designed to provide efficient classification and longer wear life in dense-medium applications, including coal and diamonds. Overview The Cavex® CVXT ceramic cyclone features the innovative laminar spiral inlet geometry design of the original Cavex® hydrocyclone range, but with the addition of: • Mild steel fabricated housings and • Thick 92% alumina ceramic tile liners The ceramic tiles are bonded to a prepared substrate by a two-part epoxy adhesive for maximum strength and wear life. In combination, these robust ceramic liners and housings allow the Cavex® ceramic cyclone to outperform other cyclones in dense-medium separation, particularly for potash, diamond and coal classification. Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between the CVXT ceramic cyclone and the original Cavex® CVX hydrocyclone? The main difference between our original Cavex® CVX hydrocyclone and the Cavex® CVXT is that the CVXT contains a mild steel fabricated housing and is lined with alumina tiles. Whereas the original Cavex® hydrocyclone has a standard metal housing with R55® rubber lining. Do the ceramic tiles of the CVXT allow it to be used in mill circuit applications with aggressive wear? Tile-lined cyclones are not typically used in mill circuit applications. This is because large particles and tramp can impact the wear of the tiles or even cause them to fall out. If a ceramic cyclone is needed in a mill circuit, we'll typically recommend monolithic ceramic components in our Cavex® CVX and Cavex® 2 products. Features and benefits Improved Performance The Cavex® ceramic cyclone contains our acclaimed laminar spiral inlet design, which results in sharper separation efficiency, greater capacity, reduced turbulence and longer wear life compared to competing cyclones. Customisable for a Variety of Applications The Cavex® ceramic cyclone is available in a vast range of sizes (250 to 1450mm) to suit various applications. Each hydrocyclone size comes with up to five spigot sizes, ranging from normal to extra high capacity to accommodate low yield ores. Spigots can also be manufactured in different materials to prolong life and efficiency. 20 or 40 degree cone angles are available within the Cavex® CVXT hydrocyclone to enable greater flexibility and adjustability in various conditions. Depending on your needs, we can also design hydrocyclone clusters that retrofit into existing installations to maximise production and address operational or maintenance issues. Maximised Efficiency with Optional Extended Barrels This hydrocyclone can be fitted with an extended barrel which maximises efficiency by increasing the processing time in the hydrocyclone. This is particularly beneficial for ores requiring dense-medium separation. Various Housings to Suit Your Needs A wide range of fabricated housings are available including steel housings with 92% alumina wear-resistant tiles. Long Wear Life The Cavex® ceramic cyclone contains engineered ceramic tile liners up to 50mm thick, which enhance its performance in dense-medium applications. Superior Performance in Coal Applications The Cavex® ceramic cyclone can substantially outlast less-optimised cyclones in coal classification separation, while offering real-world performance. This allows operators to reduce the number of coal cyclones in their clusters. Low Maintenance Requirements The simple design of the Cavex® ceramic cyclone has no moving parts, therefore no special tools are required for maintenance. Because of its hard-wearing materials, this hydrocyclone requires less frequent maintenance and relining compared to other hydrocyclones on the market. It is also cost-effective to run. Local After Sales Support All Cavex® hydrocyclones are backed by the Weir Minerals' service centre network with over 160 service facilities across the world. Our team are always there for you, no matter how remote your operation is. We can also service machinery on site for added convenience. Why Weir? At Weir, our team have been manufacturing hydrocyclones for over 45 years, with the original Cavex® hydrocyclone setting new industry benchmarks when introduced over 20 years ago. Our continued commitment to research and development means that we're always innovating and pursuing further improvements to ensure that our hydrocyclones stay at the forefront of the industry. We provide a diverse range of high-performance cyclones of different sizes and capabilities. We can proactively meet the varying needs of customers and their diverse applications with: • Our knowledgeable technical team • Reliable supply and inventory levels • Global presence and • Extensive after sales and service networks For more information about our Cavex® CVXT Ceramic Hydrocyclone, please get in touch with our team. Applications The Cavex® CVXT ceramic cyclone is designed for heavy and dense medium separation, particularly for fines classification, removal and recovery of potash, coal, diamonds and hard rock. It is frequently used as a coal cyclone given its ability to outlast less optimised cyclones in demanding coal applications. In addition to physically absorbing the coal’s impact, the wear lining of the Cavex® ceramic cyclone has a crucial role in maintaining the efficient movement of slurry through the hydrocyclone. • Coal • Diamonds • Potash • Rare Earths Processes • Wet Classification • Heavy / Dense Medium Separation Product specifications At Weir, we can provide customised hydrocyclone solutions and simulations, drawings and mass balances depending on your application or requirements. If you need help or advice regarding a custom design, please contact our team of experts. Replacement parts The highest-wearing parts of a ceramic cyclone are the spigot and apex. These will need to be replaced throughout the lifetime of your hydrocyclone, depending on the application. Need replacement parts for your hydrocyclone? Get in touch with our team today. Product upgrades and modifications Our range of Cavex® ceramic cyclones can be customised to suit various applications, with a variety of spigots and vortex finders. Our team can customise them to suit your unique application needs or design them to retrofit into existing installations. This helps to maximise production and address any operational or maintenance issues. We also offer Air Core Boosters (ACB) as an upgrade to enhance cyclone performance. Services and maintenance Cavex® hydrocyclones are backed by our unrivalled global support network that spans across more than 60 countries world-wide. This means that our experts are here to support you, every step of the way, wherever you may be.
