Lewis® acid valves are designed to provide maximum corrosion resistance, outstanding performance and reliability in 93-99.5% sulphuric acid and oleum applications. Overview in 1975, we manufactured our first Lewis® sulphuric acid valve, continuing a specialisation in sulphuric acid equipment which began in 1914. Today, the Lewis brand is known worldwide as a leader in the design and manufacture of piping and control valves for sulphuric acid applications. Our range of Lewis® specialty valves include butterfly, gate and globe valves. They are designed with an all-metal construction featuring our best-in-class proprietary Lewmet® nickel-chrome alloys. The mechanical engineering concepts embodied in our Lewis® sulphuric acid valves ensure unparalleled performance, consistent flow control and maximum corrosion resistance in high-temperature sulphuric acid and oleum applications. Although the flow through piping in a sulphuric acid plant is generally limited to 2-3 meters/second, the velocity may be many times that value in the intricate passageways of a valve. Lewis® Butterfly Valves The overall corrosion resistance of Lewmet® alloys in hot sulfuric acid allows Lewis® acid butterfly valves to offer consistently reliable control, even in severe service applications. These valves are specially designed for acid heat exchanger/cooler bypass duty at the pump discharge. Size Range: 50mm to 600mm (2" to 24") Lewis® Gate Valves Lewis® gate valves are often specified for hot acid service where tight shut-off is mandatory and cannot be compromised. They can also be furnished with a variety of automatic actuators. Size Range: 15mm to 750mm (1/2" to 30") Lewis® Globe Valves Lewis® globe valves feature a V-port disc that provides linear flow control. They are used as 'stop' valves where tight shut-off is needed and pressure drop is not critical. Lewis® globe valves can be furnished with a variety of automatic actuators. Size Range: 15mm to 150mm (1/2" to 6") Features and benefits Unequalled Performance in Sulphuric Acid Applications The all-metal Lewmet® alloy design of Lewis® acid valves eliminates failures typically associated with non-metallic lined valves in sulphuric acid service such as brick chip/tower packing damage as well as separation from substrate material. Consistent Flow Control Lewis® acid valves are resistant to galling, erosion and corrosion. They are also insensitive to turbulence and abrasion. Variety of Actuator Options Available Lewis® acid valves can be furnished with a variety of automatic actuators for either electric motorised operation or pneumatic operation. Actuators are assembled to the valves by valve technicians during manufacturing and fully calibrated before shipment. Why Weir?
