About this product

Lewis® sulphuric acid pumps are designed to assure the plant operator of outstanding performance and reliability in high-temperature sulphuric acid and oleum applications. Overview Sulphuric acid (or ""sulfuric acid"") is one of the most important industrial chemicals used in today’s growing world. It is most commonly used in fertiliser manufacturing but is also important in mineral processing, oil refining, chemical processing and several other applications. Pumps are used to circulate and transfer acid of 93-99.5% concentrations from one process to the next. Our Lewis® vertical sulphuric acid pumps have been specifically developed for service in strong sulphuric acid and oleum applications. Lewis® vertical sulphuric acid pumps can be manufactured in multiple industry standard lengths, and proprietary materials can be customised to suit the application. The pump’s vertical design eliminates the pressurised seal area, promoting a safe environment for the plant and operators. Features and benefits Superior Material Performance We have developed the Lewmet® family of nickel-based alloys specifically for sulphuric acid applications. Lewmet® alloys provide optimum corrosion resistance and are hardened to 500 Brinell for increased wear and abrasion protection. They can withstand high velocities and abrasives, capable of extended service in 93-99.5% sulphuric acid at temperatures up to 240°C. The ability to operate in highly aggressive environments means Lewmet® alloys are ideal for applications where mechanical components must maintain a high level of integrity. Extended Periods of Time Between Maintenance Cycles The pump's heavy duty construction provides smooth, vibration-free operation while pumping high specific gravity liquids continuously, extending the time between maintenances. Heavy-duty Construction Lewis® vertical sulphuric acid pumps are made from one-piece alloy shafts of premium yield strength. Submerged and external designs are also available. Simplified Maintenance All Lewis® pumps are designed for simplicity and built with the user in mind. Precision-machined parts fit between mating parts to eliminate alignment issues. All pumps can be serviced using standard tools, and volume production of replacement parts assures complete interchangeability for older operating units. Why Weir? Since establishing the Lewis brand in 1891, we have been a leader in pump manufacturing. It’s why plant operators in over 120 countries have trusted Lewis® pumps and valves in their most high-wear and corrosive applications.
