About this product
Engineered for high production capacity, the Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher is renowned for its secondary crushing capabilities in aggregate and recycling applications. Overview Engineered for high production capacity and large reduction ratio crushing, the Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher is renowned for its secondary crushing capabilities, without compromising the quality or size of the product. It can also be used for recycling applications. Impact crushers are best suited to feed materials with a Low Abrasion Index and Low Work Index, but also perform well in other applications. Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crushers feature a large unobstructed opening for slabby feed such as concrete and asphalt. Built for precision and versatility, the Trio® APS Series horizontal impact crusher contains the following features: • Robust steel coil springs to support the curtains • Shim stacks with hydraulic assist allowing apron gap settings to be easily adjusted • Hydraulic assist frame opening for easy access to the inside of the crusher • External stripper bar adjustment and replacement • Optional third adjustable curtain Compared to other crushers, the Trio® APS Series produces materials with premium particle shape at a single pass. Frequently Asked Questions What is the difference between the Trio® APP and APS series horizontal shaft impact crusher? The Trio® APP series horizontal shaft impact crusher (HSI) is intended for primary crushing applications. This HSI crusher has a large feed opening, which has been specifically designed to accommodate larger rocks. The feed opening is at an increased angle to allow for horizontal feed (e.g. by the Trio TF series grizzly feeder). The Trio® APS series horizontal shaft impact crusher has been designed for secondary crushing, it’s feed opening is smaller and has been designed to ensure smaller rocks are fed at the correct angle to facilitate optimal crushing. How can wear of the liners be identified / indicated? A change of the final product quality is always the first indication of wear of the liners. Wear of the blow bars can be inspected by opening the machine and measuring the blow bar from face to base. Often the end of the blow bar, furthest from the centre of the rotor wears the fastest. Operators can flip the blow bars in order to get maximum utilisation of the wear material. How do I know when the blow bars need to be flipped or changed? Visually inspecting a blow bar is the easiest method of deciding if the part requires replacement. If the blow bar has been flipped, it will begin to round in shape as both ends wear. How can I tell if my horizontal shaft impact crusher is being fed properly? A good method of evaluating whether your crusher is being fed properly is by checking the drawn power. It is recommended that the crusher should operate at around 80% of its maximum power requirements. Can I feed a horizontal shaft impact crusher hard rock or feed material with tramp iron in it? Yes, however we would advise a consultation with one of our process experts beforehand. Hard rock can increase the wear rate of blow bars. Crushing material which includes tramp iron increases the risk of internal components being damaged. There are changes we can recommend to your wider process to ensure your circuit runs optimally. For example, magnets could be used during feeding to ensure excess iron is removed. Feeding hard rock or similar material will have an effect on the life time of wear parts. What effect will feed material with a high percentage of fines have on this type of impact crusher? Excess fines can cause low throughput, low efficiency, high wear and , increases the production of dust. Always try to avoid processing feed that is smaller than the crushing gap. Why is the consumed power lower than the installed power? The installed power indicates the maximum specification which is only consumed when the machine is operating at full load. The consumed power reflects the amount of rocks that actually need to get crushed to pass the settings. With an always existing amount of fines the consumed power is regularly below the installed power. What effect does recirculation bring to the quality of the final product? Recirculation improves the shape and the accuracy of the final product but also increases the production of fines. How do I improve the utilisation of the curtain liners? Curtain liners cannot be flipped but are interchangeable with other positions. By alternating the position of the liners, lightly worn liners can be move to higher wear locations to obtain better utilisation. Features and benefits Robust Design Our Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher is made from a welded low carbon steel main frame. It also contains solid cast alloy steel rotors with abrasion resistant blow bars, forged steel rotor shafts, and abrasion resistant steel interior liner plates. Designed for Secondary Crushing The Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher is renowned for its secondary, tertiary and quaternary crushing capabilities, without compromising the quality of particle shape and size. Produces Premium Shaped Particles The Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher features robust steel coil springs which provide additional tension on the secondary and tertiary curtains. This maintains consistent gap settings which help create a uniform and high quality end product. Impact crushers are also known for producing high quality products. Enhanced Safety The Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher has a hydraulically powered crusher opening, safety locks, a proximity switch and swing out door to enable safe and easy inspection and maintenance. Output product size can also be easily adjusted by changing the curtain setting and speed. It also contains external stripper bar adjustment and replacement which helps to improve crusher performance and reduce wear over time. Adjustable Apron Settings The Trio® APS Series horizontal impact crusher contains shim stacks and a hydraulically assisted jack. This allows users to easily adjust the apron gap settings depending on the desired product size. High Ratio Reduction One of the outstanding benefits of the Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher is that it has a high ratio of reduction that can be achieved in a single stage of crushing. Flexible Rotor Design The Trio® APS Series impact crusher provides flexibility in a variety of different applications with two, three or four blow bar rotor options available. The number of blow bar rotors recommended is dependent on the type of feed material being processed. Global Service Network All Trio® impact crushers are backed by our unrivalled Weir Minerals service centre network with over 160 service facilities across the world. Our team is always here to help, regardless of your location. We can also service machinery onsite for added convenience. Why Weir? Applications The Trio® APS Series horizontal shaft impact crusher (HSI) is designed for secondary crushing applications, where medium-small rocks (from 200-600mm in size) need to be crushed into premium-shaped, finer particles. Within the aggregates industry, the Trio® APS Series horizontal impact crusher is frequently used to process hard rock and recycling materials including concrete, glass, asphalt, slag, limestone and graphite. Unlike the Trio® APP Series horizontal impact crusher, the Trio® APS Series is not typically recommended for primary applications. Suitable to be used with the following feed materials: • Copper • Chrome • Gold • Iron • Lithium • Molybdenum • Nickel • Zinc • Bauxite / Alumina • Kimberlite • Limestone • Mineral Sands • Oil Sands • Aggregate • Asphalt • Concrete • Gravel • Frac Sand • Slag Processes • Recycle Crushing • Secondary Crushing Product specifications Replacement parts The highest wearing parts of the Trio® horizontal shaft impact crusher are the: • Rotor blow bars (manganese or chrome iron) • Apron liners (manganese) • Frame liners (abrasion-resistant steel) To extend the wear life of the blow bars, they can be flipped around once one side is worn out. This rotation can be done before needing to replace the entire blow bar with a new one, saving on replacement costs. If you would like to learn more about how to flip the bar, please get in touch with our team.
