A medium-duty horizontal slurry pump uniquely designed to excel in sand, gravel and coal applications. Overview Engineered to deliver the lowest possible wear rates in gravel, coal and many other medium to coarse slurry applications, Warman® XU pumps feature unique patented casing and impeller designs, and a unique sealing design. Warman® XU pumps (Service Class 1-3) have been optimised with the latest fluid dynamics techniques, advanced computer wear modelling, years of field and lab testing and decades of design experience. These pumps are an all-metal unlined pump that integrates new wet-end wear components with the long-proven Warman® mechanical end. They are also dimensionally interchangeable with the Warman® AH® and AHP pumps, fitting directly onto our solid and reliable Warman® bearing assembly and base. Designed with a single casing, integral suction side liner, and a minimum number of fasteners, Warman® XU pumps require minimal special tools and lifting devices making them simple and easy to maintain. Frequently Asked Questions What is the benefit of the unique cutwater shape of the Warman® XU compared to other centrifugal slurry pumps? The Warman® XU pump cutwater design creates a larger clearance between the impeller and cutwater. This allows for a wider range of flow rates without having the resulting localised wear issues in low-flow or high-flow conditions that you would see in slurry pumps of the conventional shape or design. How does the seal performance of the Warman® XU compare to that of other centrifugal slurry pumps? Warman® XU horizontal slurry pumps have a larger-diameter expeller which results in better sealing capability over a wider range of suction conditions as compared to other centrifugal slurry pumps. Are any of the Warman® XU parts interchangeable with other pumps? The wet end of the Warman® XU pump itself does not contain any interchangeable components. However, the base and mechanical end are the same as used in other Warman® horizontal pumps. What material options are available for the Warman® XU pump? Warman® XU pumps are typically supplied in our proprietary Ultrachrome® A05 alloy. Exotic materials are not available for this type of pump. Features and benefits Minimised Wear for Maximum Wear Life Warman® XU pumps are available with the following features to provide maximum wear life: • Teardrop-shaped frame plate inserts ensure that most of the local side wall wear occurs on the liner, not on the casing • The configured volute cross-section distributes casing material at the point of maximum wear to extend wear life when pumping large solids • The profile of the impeller wear ring helps to reduce wear on the throatbush and impeller area by minimising inlet turbulence and restricting recirculation • Our unique extended shroud impeller design reduces side-liner wear by trapping the pump-out vane tip vortices against the shroud preventing further vortex development • The Impeller vane tip profile increases radial velocity of flow in the centre of the vane preventing inward spiral flow and reducing wear in the casing • Our five-vane, thick-sectioned, high-efficiency impellers offer maximum wear life and low operating costs Operates Across a Wide Range of Slurry Flows The unique low V open cutwater design of our Warman® XU pumps lowers slurry velocity and wear in the casing allowing the pumps to operate over a wide range of flows. The low V design also produces more forgiving operating ranges and broader efficiency bands. Ease of Maintenance Warman® XU pumps contain several features to help promote easy of maintenance. For example, these pumps contain: • T-liner and spigotted fits to ensure all components can be easily assembled • An extremely robust one-piece base cradles the cartridge type bearing and shaft assembly • An external impeller adjustment mechanism below the bearing housing for easy adjustment of impeller clearance • Three shackle lifting points on the casing Exceptional Sealing Our shaft sealing arrangements are field-proven in thousands of successful pumps operating worldwide. Sealing options for any size of Warman® XU pump include our standard gland, centrifugal seal, mechanical seal, as well as our Kal seal, which is a hybrid option that includes a lip seal inside the stuffing box. The Kal seal includes a lip seal inside the stuffing box to prevent contamination of packing during gland water interruptions and reduce overall water consumption.
