The wet process produces pea protein isolate (>80% on a dry basis). Pea protein is an excellent protein with several essential amino acids and additional vitamins, minerals, and fibers that pets need. However, peas are lower in some essential amino acids, like methionine, valine, and tryptophan. As a result, other sources of these amino acids should be supplemented from different proteins, such as meat or chemical sources, to achieve a balanced level to meet the pet’s nutrient needs.
