The Custom Parking Brake Cable Assembly features a threaded adjustment section for precise cable tension and effective travel setting during installation. A typical configuration can provide up to 25 mm of adjustment, helping compensate for installation tolerances, brake mechanism wear and system travel variation without replacing the complete cable. The locknut secures the selected position after adjustment, while eyelet terminals provide a positive mechanical connection to the brake lever or linkage. Adjustment range, threaded rod length, eyelet dimensions and mounting geometry can all be customized to the specific parking brake system.
At the core of the Custom Parking Brake Cable Assembly is a flexible 7×19 stainless steel wire rope, selected for applications requiring repeated bending and pull-only force transmission. The cable system can be combined with a low-friction liner and reinforced conduit to maintain smooth movement along curved routing, while the black PVC outer jacket helps protect the assembly from moisture, road splash, dust, oil and abrasion. A typical PVC configuration can be specified for approximately –20°C to +80°C, with alternative jacket, liner and cable materials available for higher-temperature, corrosion-sensitive or heavy-duty applications.
Strength should be matched to the actual parking brake load rather than treated as a fixed value for every application. Depending on cable diameter, wire construction and terminal design, the Custom Parking Brake Cable Assembly can be engineered for a minimum breaking strength of ≥2200 N or higher. Finished assemblies can be validated through tensile, terminal pull-out and repeated actuation testing, with 10,000+ pull cycles available as a project-specific test target. This verifies not only the wire rope itself, but also the complete load path through the cable, adjuster and end fittings before production approval.
A strong inner cable is only effective when the termination can reliably transfer the load. Each Custom Parking Brake Cable Assembly can use controlled hydraulic swaging to create a secure mechanical connection between the steel cable and eyelet or terminal. Properly controlled crimp geometry helps distribute tensile load through the termination and reduces the risk of cable slippage or terminal pull-out under repeated operation and vehicle vibration. Terminal pull-out strength can be tested together with complete assembly tensile performance according to the required working load and safety factor.
Every parking brake system has different routing, travel, mounting and load requirements. The Custom Parking Brake Cable Assembly can therefore be engineered from customer drawings, samples or application specifications rather than limited to standard catalog dimensions. Custom options include overall length, conduit length, effective travel, adjustment range, inner cable diameter and construction, eyelet size, threaded rod, terminal type, mounting brackets, jacket material and surface treatment. Prototype samples can be produced for fitment and performance validation before mass production, supporting new OEM programs, aftermarket replacements and special equipment projects.
