About this product

OPEN STRAND HIGH STRENGTH STEEL Open Spiral Strand (OSS) Open Spiral Strand (OSS) is manufactured using helically wound, high-strength steel round wires, which are generally spun in opposing directions around a central core. Each wire is tested and verified for tensile strength, ductility, elongation at fracture, bending, torsional properties, and adhesion of zinc coating in accordance with EN 10264 and EN 12385-10. Corrosion resistance is ensured by a hot-dip coating of zinc (Zn) and zinc-aluminium (95%Zn/5%Al) applied to the surface of the individual wires. In addition, a zinc-rich corrosion inhibitor compound is applied internally during the cable stranding process. The main OSS properties are high axial stiffness (EA) values, high strength-to-weight ratio, good long-term fatigue resistance, and torque balance. OSS is designed following the most stringent international standards, including EN 1993-1-8, EN 1993-1-9, and EN 1993-1-11, ensuring they meet the structural and safety requirements of modern engineering applications. Specifications: Galvanized Features: Material: High-strength steel wire according to EN 10264-2. See ETA 18/1122 for details Corrosion protection: - Inner wires: zinc coating (Galfan coating available on request) - Outer wires: Galfan coating - Filling material: Teufelberger-Redaelli proprietary Tensofill compound for inner layers. Outer layers not filled Socketing: polyester resin (e.g. Wirelock) or metal (Zinc/Zamak) socketing according to ETA 18/1122. Swaging according to ETA 18/1122 Applications: Bridges, Stadia, Towers and Wheels, Facades and Cable Nets
